Bridal Trials

Preview the look

Hair and makeup trials are an important part of achieving your desired look for your wedding day. It’s a time to meet and create a relationship with your stylists, define your unique style, and really begin to envision what you will look like on your special day!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Where and When Can I Have my Trial?

Trials are typically held at our private studio in Rockford, Illinois by appointment only on Sundays and weekdays, however, Saturdays are available but will be at event pricing. Our private studio is located inside Sola Salon Studios, and at our home studio. Please note the studio space is small, therefore we ask that you only bring one adult guest to your appointment. Trials can be requested at Client’s home for an additional travel fee.

How Can I Plan for my Trial?

Please provide us with a picture of yourself in daylight and of your hair and/or makeup inspiration photos prior to your appointment. This will help us better prepare for the appointment and ensure you’re happy with the end result. You can browse our Pinterest boards for inspiration. If you’re torn between a few looks, don’t worry! We will help you finalize a look that fits your wedding style during your appointment. For bridal trials, it is helpful to wear a white or light colored top with no collar to resemble your wedding dress.

How Do I Prep My Hair?

We prefer that you wash and blow dry your hair the day of your appointment. Do not flat iron your hair as it very hard to curl once it’s been flat-ironed. If you plan on wearing your hair curly for the wedding, please wear it curly for your appointment. Please do not arrive with wet hair, unless you are getting a blow-out for your style. We do not wash hair at trials or appointments.

What Should I Bring?

Please bring any hair accessories that you plan on wearing for your wedding day. If you have a specific hair product or makeup product that you want to use for your wedding, for example, a specific blush or lipstick, please bring those as well. If you have allergies to certain makeup brands or makeup ingredients, please let us know in advance.

 How Can I Pay?

Trial payments are made at the time of booking. Please note that a trial is not confirmed until a payment is received.

How Long Will It Take?

Each service (makeup or hair) takes about one hour.  Hair and Makeup trials take about two hours. Please specify if you have a special circumstance, such as very long and thick hair so that we add time to your trial.

Should I Come With a Clean Face for my Makeup Trial?

You can come with a clean face or wear your usual makeup to give us an idea of your makeup preferences. It’s totally up to you! We will prep your skin with moisturizer and primer, so no need to bring those items.

Can I Try Different Looks?

We recommend that you choose your favorite hair and makeup look for your appointment. We are happy to make some adjustments to the hair and makeup during the trial based on your feedback. If you want to start a new and completely different look from scratch after the first two hours, we charge $50 for every extra half hour after.

Will You Be Taking Pictures at the Trial?

We try to snap a before and after picture at the trial to capture your transformation. We are happy to send you a copy of the pictures. We use these for our reference and to add to our portfolio of work.
